Advanced Yoga Practices ~ 4-day online retreat
Tantra - A Holistic Approach
21st to 24th April 2022
Time zone - London U.K.
This retreat will be taking place online from Thursday 21st to Sunday 24th April 2022. To take part you will need to have Zoom downloaded onto your phone or computer.
During the retreat we will look at the rise of Tantra in India and across Asia, and at how this shaped the practice and philosophy of yoga. This will include the development of ideas such as kundalini, chakras, nadis, yantras, mantras, etc. The retreat will also look at the gradual transition from an ascetic and transcendental approach to yoga, towards a more expansive and embodied approach to liberation.
The retreat will not be an exploration of the sexual practices of Tantra, but will be much more about the “other 99%” of Tantra.
Practices on the retreat will include asana, Spinal Breathing, Deep Meditation and Samyama. In addition we will look as some of the inner energy practices such as siddhasana, shambhavi mudra, kechari mudra etc.
The retreat will be led in English. The time zone will be London, U.K. with classes in the afternoons and evenings. The retreat will be suitable for all levels of experience.
To take part, it is recommended to be in a quiet location where you can focus on your spiritual practices over the course of the event.
None of the classes on the retreat will be recorded.
Teacher

He specializes in the teaching of meditation, pranayama and the philosophy of yoga.
“Tantra means “woven together,” or “two fullnesses as one.” It means the same as yoga really, with some intimacy added. Tantra recognizes from the start that there are two poles to be ecstatically merged for enlightenment to occur – father heaven and mother earth, masculine and feminine energies, shiva and shakti, yin and yang – and that these two poles are contained in us, in our nervous system. We have already discussed this from various practical angles in the lessons of AdvancedYogaPractices. Tantra yoga is the broadest of all the yoga systems that approach life as two realities to be joined in the human nervous system.” [Yogani]
